50 metre Training pool

Client Brief 

Our client wanted a reasonably priced training pool for British National swimmers and triathlon swimmers.
The pool had to be functional with a simple design, gym area, changing rooms and constructed in a well insulated building.
The water had to be filtered regularly to keep its clarity and maintain a temperature of 28 °C.

Pool Design and Equipment 
We designed a system that would be effective, but could be upgraded in the future i.e. the pool is concrete built with the option to tile at a later date.
The pool building is of steel construction using the insulated Kingspan system on the roof and walls to minimize heat loss.

The pool filtration and heating system is run as two systems, one covering one half of the pool and the second the other half. This gives the client much more flexibility in the running of the pool so they can run one system in times of low use.

The pool approximately holds 70,000 gallons with a turnover of 5 hours. The filtration is via Certikin commercial pumps and filters keeping the water very clear and clean. The heating is via two 250,000 BTU oil boilers linked to two Bowmans heater exchangers keeping the water temperature at 28 C.

For the air conditioning we are using 3 Amcor Commercial dehumidifiers which are comfortably keeping the humidity at 65% with the option of upgrading to a Delta system in the future.
